ReplyDeleteA pre-survey? So should all professors do this?
ReplyDeleteI would say that the key thing when it comes to including technology in a lesson is about making sure its needed. I know nothing checks me out more than a power point lecture when the professor makes it known that the power points will be available online.
ReplyDeleteThough there is a place for technology in the classroom if it is applied correctly, I feel that many instructors use technology to readily and without consideration of students' needs.
ReplyDeleteI feel that including technonlogy in the class can be a vital tool to help students learn, BUT you must be a teacher first, you can't use technology to wow your students without any real teaching or knowledge. If technology can make your teachnig better and easier then by all means use it as much as possible, but it should not be the entire focus of your teaching.
ReplyDeleteTechnology is not meant to enable "lazyness" but counteract it, I see it as a tool to enhance what ever it is applied to, if what you are teaching needs no enhancement then it stands on it's own, technology is a tool sometimes it may be needed and sometimes a lesson will be stronger with out...As teachers we are still the main resource our students should be gleaning from.Technology can be seen as content, without proper application (instruction) it isn't really transformed into knowledge, therefore no advance takes place within learning, not what I want for my students...Students come first, then teaching, then tech
